I took Dean to see The Swell Season on Monday. Otherwise known as Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and otherwise known as the stars of the film, Once, it was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. The music is unpretentious, the musicians also unpretentious. Just an evening of phenomenal music. The music isn’t trying to be something it isn’t. The songs, perfect. It’s hard to describe.

The runaway success of the film, Once, has catapulted the music and the musicians to fame. And, though that popularity has given them the opportunity to play to many more people than they otherwise would have, it would appear that the fame hasn’t gone to their heads.

In fact, it almost seems like the fame is a disruption to their normal lives.
