Spent some time this past weekend with a great old friend. Well, I hate to use the term “old”. We’ll just say that we’ve known her for well over a decade and have gone thru some tough things together. Would explain, but, that’s not the point here…

She told us of a gal that she was somewhat close to whom we were acquainted with. She was sad that this gal had “left the faith.” Apparently, she was a Godly woman, single for too long and wanting to be married. However, that hadn’t been “in the cards” for her, so she gave up on God, met a guy through MySpace and got married. I can’t empathize. Married at 23 to someone 21. I don’t know what it’s like to be mid 30’s (or later!) and single. And I can’t explain why God allows these wonderful Godly people to be single. Now, if they just saw themselves as staying single, I’d understand. But, they desperately WANT to be married. Perhaps the desire to be married is what they focus on. Yet, again, I can’t relate. Not that I think it’s ok to give up on God. Hardly. But, my heart is sad to hear this. Do we give up on God in other areas of our lives that are, perhaps not as “public”? How can I truly live IN Him?
