So, I normally have pretty vivid dreams. Every night. I remember a few of them which my kids, well, Gracie like to hear as they tend to be funny and quite interesting. So, last night was no exception. Here goes…
It was about bears at our church. There was some commotion as someone noticed a pair of bear cubs digging thru the church trash dumpster. As I dreamt it, it was several years ago, prior to the church addition (which was done in 1992) and parking lot (?). So, where there are bear cubs, a mother is sure to follow. We look and can’t find her. The kids find out and rush outside to “play” with the cubs. Then, we look outside the window and right alongside the building is the mother, apparently sleeping. I immediately run to the doors and from the doors yell at the kids to come inside. The mother bear awakes.
She doesn’t really go after the kids, but she does participate and growl and lunge after a few of the kids, of which my son, Will is one of them. I continue to scream at the kids to come inside by saying “bears are very dangerous”. And now as I think about it, I never really went outside. I stayed by the doors. Probably pretty important fact in the (hopefully) future interpretation of the dream. I never really went outside to rescue the kids.
Finally, the kids start to understand that the bear (well, at least the mother) could harm them so they start running for the doors of the church where I am standing somewhat in a panic. The cubs think this is all pay and join the kids and actually get inside the building. And of course, the mother wants to follow.
And this is where it gets a little strange. The mother bear is up on her hind legs and is suddenly clothed to a point. A little dazed and confused, she wanders in thru the doors. I calmly, yet very directly, try to usher her out of the doorway back outside telling her that her cubs are outside (I lied). Unfortunately, there are still 2 boys on top on a shed building outside either having fun up there or too panicked to move. And I don’t remember if Will was one of them. One of his church friends was, however. The mother bear does venture back outside without incident.
And then I wake up. A little anxious as I had been yelling at the top of my voice and not exactly sure what happened to the cubs or the mother bear or the kids still outside.
Anyone care to interpret?
