I did my civic duty today and voted. Yee Haw! It was an August primary election. Nothing too flashy about that. How did I vote? Poorly.
I’m starting to think that politics is similar to nuclear physics, not many people know about the topic, so they leave the debates and such to the experts. And yet, we as “normal” people have the ability to choose who represents “us”. Unfortunately, it takes time to truly become educated about the issues and vote your conscience. So, again, how did I vote?
Poorly.
I, the uneducated (at least on the issues at hand) have the same powerful vote as the actual candidate. So, I, average Mr. Voter can choose as I feel. Maybe every other dot. Or make another pattern. Or perhaps vote only party lines regardless. Or the guy who has the longest last name.
I can do that. And no one will know.
I saw several people on the corner yesterday with signs in hand. I voted for that guy. I actually did. I have no idea of who he is or what he believes in. His supporters took the time to stand in the heat. He got my vote. And lost. 4% of the vote. 2607 votes. I should have voted for the guy with the Mennonite last name. He actually won.
Not sure this actually matters at all. A heated Senate primary battle between two Republicans. One had the support of the Right to Life people prior to the other guy joining in the race. But, they had more ties with the second guy, so they “supported” him. So, it’s all just politics anyway.
And the Republican vs. Democrat thing. Ugh.
Maybe I should join the whole political world. It’s self feeding. If anything actually got done, then, there wouldn’t be a need for more politics. So, we just let it all happen. Make the machine bigger.
Now, where’s that suit and tie…
