I used to think I had great communication skills. Throughout my life I’ve had to communicate. (Duh, I guess we all have to communicate at some level…). Those skills have been honed thru many involvements with varying forms. I’ll admit I’m not the absolute best at communication, but, I thought I was pretty good.
I thought wrong.
My current job has me communicating with our IT department regularly. I’ve told my manage that I need a translator as everything I tend to (try to) communicate with the IT department isn’t clearly understood. I don’t want to treat them like 3rd graders, they are smarter than I. However, perhaps I need to revert to 3rd grade communication skills, not necessarily for them to understand, but for me to explain.
Ugh.
