So, I finally get to do “what I do” at work. Take something and make it beautiful. And it happens to be graphic layout/design! I was given a brochure to tweak for an upcoming conference. Knowing that we were going to do a short run printing which we could do in-house and knowing that the conference is rather important and being the self-avowed paper snob that I am, I headed to Xpedx during a lunch break to get some paper samples.
I knew what I would generally end up with given past experiences. I find several samples take them back to work and begin printing out document revisions on the different paper. My boss remarked very positively about the paper I knew would work. He even remarked (eavesdropping!) to his boss about the paper (who had asked what kind of paper we would be printing on) and mentioned my name in the “Byron has a knack for this” category.
So, the VP came in today and decided that he didn’t want to take the hour or so to go out and get the paper. Nice.
In the “big deal” department, this is pretty small potatoes. In the “kill Byron’s enthusiasm” department, it is. In the “Byron knows how to be a big boy” department, I’m ok. As long as it doesn’t come back on me.
Boy, that Neenah Classic Linen Solar White 80lb. Cover stock would have looked great. At least I gave it my best, my excellence for the company.
