We had the ubiquitous company Christmas Holiday party on Friday evening. Nice place, all dressed up. The “big” deal about the food was how expensive it was, not how good it was. It was good, but as usual with the “exclusive” type places, it was not fantastic. I can stay home and have that! So, I sat next to the boss, the people arrangement was a bit weird. I tried to engage in conversation, but was largely silent. Dean and the boss’s wife got along well, as predicted.
So, towards the end of the evening, Dean asked about Nathan and I lit up and started talking. Dean later remarked, you sat there in silence all evening then when I asked about that you “used” all your words for the day in 15 minutes. Duh. I hardly relate to those I was sitting next to. Engage me in some real conversation about something I enjoy and all is well.
The weekend was largely the continuation of that conversation. It was great to have Ryan in town. We talked a lot. Hopefully he brought something from our time together. I wish…
