I had a lunch meeting recently with a couple of friends, one of whom is having some issues at his workplace. The other friend and I are working thru some of these issues with him, trying to encourage him along the way and help him make some life decisions. Or, at least point out the issues in order to help him see more clearly in order to help him in making those decisions.

So, I pointed out to him that he’s being hung out to dry. And he responded with something like, “I wouldn’t really say that. I mean, they have left me alone to try to solve these issues without providing any help or guidance, but, I wouldn’t say they left me hung out to dry…”

In other words, he gave the exact definition of being hung out to dry.
