Perhaps all I need to say is that I said “no” to something. To something pretty cool. Inline with who I am. But, as it tied into the subject of my previous post, it was time to say “no”. The question back, “is that a definitive “no”?” “Yes, it’s a ‘no’”
I read an interview several years ago with a famous record producer. In the article, he talked about not accepting everything that came his way, even if it had “potential”. I don’t remember the entire gist of the conversation, but in it, he was quoted as saying, “no is friendly word.” Sometimes the worst thing we can say is “yes” and not followup with what we are saying yes to. Leaving people with unmet expectations does no one any good.
As I look back, without really knowing it consciously, coming to the conclusion and writing it down (as I did in my previous post) gave me the power to say “no” definitively.
