Yeah, well, things can’t always happen as we initially think they should go…
We had a full price offer on our home. With a contingency. The buyers needed to sell their home first. Simple…right?
Nope.
They put their house on the market about 2 weeks after they made their offer to us. And they showed it. And showed it. And showed it. One offer came in, but was, as it were, “offensive”. Much lower than their asking price. So, we extended the contract another 30 days. Could have been 30 weeks or even 30 years. Nothing. They had lowered their price… by $2000. Not enough to get any bites. So, the contract expired.
On Oct. 25 we had another Open House. Lots of exposure. Craigslist ad. Facebook postings. Balloons on the sign. Just, what we do. One realtor told us we couldn’t just put out a a sign, have an Open House and expect a response. We needed “aggressive” marketing. Which to them is just clicking a few buttons to enable their resources and then THEY just expect a response.
We have well over 100 people show up to the Open House. Now, granted, they were mostly just onlookers. But, in today’s social world… We didn’t care. We love showing off our homes. And the response was overwhelming. One gal asked to bring her family back after the Open House had ended. So, of course, we obliged. Another gal contacted me via FaceBook about some things. And we had a realtor ask about the home for his clients. We received 2 offers 2 days after the Open House. We accepted the one from the family. No contingencies. Full price offer. So, we sold the same house, twice.
Closing is set for Nov. 30.
Time to move home.
