Got this text today:
I need u to just pray. I’m tired. In every possible way a person can be tired.
I concur. I don’t think this is how God calls us to live. However, as I read Chambers, I’m not sure how it all relates. He uses words such as “uncertainty” and ideas that center around not being completely settled in life.
The nature of the spiritual life is that we are certain in our uncertainty. Consequently, we do not put down roots. To be certain of God means that we are uncertain in all our ways, not knowing what tomorrow may bring. This is generally expressed with a sigh of sadness, but it should be an expression of breathless expectation.
I still don’t think God calls us to be tired. Can we find rest in uncertainty? Well, no. But we can find rest in Him even though uncertainly may follow.
