I got the call from Richard this afternoon. A solid job offer. It puts us in a better position/situation in many ways. I made the ubiquitous Pro/Con list and and a couple of standouts. A potential major Con on the BGI side and a minor-major Pro on the ID side (well, the fact that I just got promoted!). As the Con on the BGI side is totally dependent on things happening, things totally out of my control and information that I was told in confidence, I have to determine if I am to allow that information to influence my decision. Without that information, the decision is pretty easy. Take the BGI position. ID would have to offer more than double my current salary to make up for what I would otherwise get at BGI. AND, sweeten the deal over time. Is it all about money? Not hardly! There are so many other positives that would land me over there at BGI that it’s not even funny! So, do I let that information influence my decision? Is it the “voice of God” telling me to be cautious, to possibly not accept that position? Or is it just information. Something that is so uncertain that allowing that to make my decision would seem foolish? One thing is for sure, God has me on a path of processing! Perhaps it’s all about the journey in this as well? Forcing me to decide on what’s truly important. I drool over the dealer price list of the speakers at ID and think about giving that up. Are you serious! Giving up half price speakers for a job where your salary is nearly double what you are currently getting? At that, you can pay retail! Yes, I realize that those sorts of things hold interest to me. And that’s good. But, more interest than the well being of my wife and 4 kids? I think the decision is getting clearer…
